MP Claims PRH to Retain Womens & Childrens Centre

MP for Telford Lucy Allan has announced that she has had assurances from hospital chiefs that Telfords PRH will keep the £28m Womens & Childrens unit.

‘I have this week received assurances that the Women and Children’s Centre will remain at PRH in Telford and that Telford will have a walk in Accident & Emergency Department, as well as a range of additional new services. The Council has also received these same assurances. This is all welcome.”

Telford & Wrekin Councillor, Cllr Nicola Lowery stated “SATH have proposed to retain the women and children’s centre delivering Breast surgery and reconstruction, birthing centre, ante-natal and post natal care, gynaecology, paediatric assessment and a women’s bleed unit. Only the specialist emergency care would need to move and co-locate with ITU. This proposal represents 7 out of 10 contacts and treatments remaining at PRH alongside all of the new services arriving”.

“Whilst this development is greatly encouraging, we need to ensure the commitment is communicated to our residents to reassure that the needs of Telford & Wrekin are being listened to as part of a wider transformational plan to secure the best health care for our region”.

No update yet from T&W Council or SaTH.

Inpatient pediatrics and consultant led obstetrics are not mentioned that’s because they are proposed to go to RSH as they must remain with the Emergency Department. That is in essence the W&C unit. This is semantics from Simon Wright and no way means W&C stays at Telford, and this is trying to pull the wool.
