Telford Docs Issue Medicine List

Telford Docs Issue Medicine List

Some people in Telford are getting texts from their GP stating that medicine previously available on prescription will now have to be paid for.

The texts from Lawley Medical practice state the reason for this change is pressure on NHS budgets and comes from Telford Clinical Commissioning Group.

Should we take responsibility for ourselves rather than expect the NHS to fund over the counter medicines?

These are inexpensive medicines for minor ailments which most people buy at the chemist anyway, so this will stop some unnecessary doctors appointments

Does it mean the stronger strengths of paracetamol/ibruprofen aswell?
I did my wrist in and they prescribed 400mg inbruprofen, I lost one of the sleeves in the pack so I went to the pharmacy to buy some and they told me they can’t give that strength over the counter

You can buy 200mg. Take 2! Don’t take it for too long it’s not kind to your body.

Interesting re the creams. It say no pescription without formal diagnosis yet that involves actually GETTING a dermatologist referral. Which my daughter has been refused as the creams and steroids usually keep it under control

The prescription charges in England are probably more than the patient would pay over the counter for these
