Campermart becomes CrapParkingFest

Campermart becomes CrapParkingFest

The road around Telford Shopping Centre was clogged with VW Campers attending the popular Campermart event at Telford International Centre today.

The VW community is huge and this indoor show is an important event in the calendar. Sadly, some of the attendees chose to park their pride and joy in a less than community minded way.

James Shaw took this picture of show-goers vehicles lining the verge of the road leading to the International Centre, asking the question ‘ What is the benefit to Telford of this place?’

Whats the benefit of having a venue that attracts large numbers of people to the town?

Carparks were not full at the Town centre today. They probably didn’t realize it was 1 pound all day and were trying to save the normal weekly parking fee.

They’re parked a lot more considerably than some cars were at the foot of the Wrekin mid-morning today – it was turned into a single lane with vehicles still travelling in both directions. Folk walking towards the Tourist Track were forced into that traffic as the verges were blocked.

The path is clear I don’t see that much of an issue and I would rather see people visit our town for events like these.

One of the problems with a vw event is 70% of the vans would be lowered so that makes the multi storeys more difficult to navigate… Still could park in the other car parks plus there is an overflow flat car park leading in from randley Island… Apart from dodging car park charges they look to be parked so as not to block the path not that I would like to park on the grass verge in a heavy vehicle in possibly sink

The international centre car park isn’t even big enough for customers when events are held, it’s not like Birmingham where they have so many over flow car parks.. I think they need to organise the quantity of people and also agree with nick Edwards.. lower cars/vans so they can’t get in multi story car parks is ridiculous and probably inconvenient

If only we had some matrix signs on the approach to TIC. Maybe they could say ‘Town Centre parking £1 all day’ Oh, hang on….

People can get past, I’m crippled and don’t have an issue with this. The council only have a problem with this as they’re not making any money off this and as a response claim that is against health and safety and the disabled can’t get past. People have been doing I here for years, don’t really see the point why it is all a sudden a problem
