Telford Job Centres Sacked Off

Telford Job Centres Sacked Off

Both Wellington and Madeley Job Centres are closing over the next few weeks.

According to the Daily Mirror, Wellington Job Centre will be closed this month for the final time and next month Madeley Job Centre will close too.

The job centre at Telford Town Centre will now be the main port of call for job seekers in the town.

Makes you laugh doesn’t it, it’s called a job centre and there’s no bloody jobs in there.

As Alanis Morisette will testify, isn’t it ironic? Don’t ya think?

Next it’ll rain on your wedding day, you’ll get a free ride when you’ve already paid.

Maybe this is good advice that you just couldn’t take?

Southwater is the centre of the universe now. Close the libraries … but not Southwater. Close the job centres … but not Southwater. Close council front desks … but not Southwater. It’s a lovely development and undoubtedly brings value to the town but not everyone wants to go to the town centre.

Below is the link for the national career service job box junctions, most venues will have computers for anyone to access and they support people with their claim commitment tasks. The local libraries also have some great staff who are willing to support people with their online UJM and online claim forms.

There’s also a program called the BBO Shropshire project. There’s 21 different charities / organisations providing pre employment support including work experience, volunteering, courses and training. Travel expenses can covered too. Job center work coaches can refer you to the project or you can self refer. Google BBO Shropshire and a full list of services is available.

Would like to see the decision making process behind this. It’s not to do with improved service levels just cost-cutting and once again deprives our town centres of services. Centralising everything in Telford is stupid.

Alan Jenkins, alot of it is going to be digitalised with the role out of UC. Hopefully the smaller libraries will be used more and in turn able to expend services.

The irony in the fact the DWP made part of their workforce redundant just before Christmas continues..

So is Madeley Library sadly books are not being returned as for Job Centres it’s a crying shame however if (lol) people where employed and didn’t need them it would be great however we all know that’s not the case. The Tories have squeezed everything to breaking point.

Wellington JC may be gone, but the memory of that feeling walking up its stairs will stay with me for a long, long time.
