Taxi used as getaway car in theft from store
“I was in Homebase today and a man came in with a big empty bag strung over his shoulder. The staff, suspicious, started to follow him around.
He picked up a couple of drills and then made a dash for the exit, pushing his way through the till lane and through the door out onto the car park.
I first became aware of this when I heard a staff member shout “stop”. I finish my shopping and went to the till.
I heard that the shoplifter had dropped one drill during his escape before jumping into the back of a Diamond Cars taxi waiting for him. The taxi sped off, wheels spinning, once he was inside.
Staff told me this was the second time that a taxi has been used in an attempted theft from the store.”
