Supported living provider reveals winning ‘poet’ for National Poetry Day
A supported living provider has announced their winning poet, in a competition run for National Poetry Day.
Jenny, who lives in Telford, wrote a poem about The Blossom Tree and was chosen from a number of creative entries by Eden Futures.
National Poetry Day is a UK-wide celebration of poetry and all things poetical. It’s about everybody sharing poetry, reading poetry, writing poetry and enjoying poetry.
Now in its 24th year, the theme this year is ‘change’ and Eden Futures encouraged people they support to get creative and send in their poetry.
Jenny, aged 63, who is supported by the Eden Futures Telford service, was selected as the winner, receiving a high street gift voucher of choice for sharing such a captivating poem.
The poem explains how nature can bring hope, warmth and comfort to us all.
“The sun came out, and I was adorned with comforts, after living without. How hope greets us. When we have been brave.”
“For nature brings hope, showing her love as a present.”
Andrew Lennox, CEO, commented: “We were really pleased to see so many creative entries and they have all been so captivating to read.
“Congratulations to Jenny whose poem was so touching and a perfect example of how change can bring positivity in life.”
