New Builds in Oakengates

Following on from the Lawley topc....There is a current application for planning permission for the building of a block of 17 apartments on The Place carpark in Oakengates.I was notified of this as I live in the immediate area.I'm in two minds......To me, Oakengates has just started busying up again. Every Saturday, said carpark gets pretty full and there is always a fair few people around and about on weekdays. Taking away the majority of the parking will not doubt have an impact on the business in the town (and me who finds it hard enough to get a space when there is something half decent on at the town hall). To be honest, I can't see that 17 new build apartments (which will no doubt be more expensive than some of the older more characterful properties are currently on the market for) would sell given the current credit climate .On the other hand, it would make it feel a bit more secure being more residential.And with any luck they'll force coco's to shut.Anyone heard much about this?
