Really on a high today after checking my bank account, and it's all thanks to the BBC Watchdog programme. Last month it pointed out that if surface water (rain on the roof!) does not drain into the main drains then you may not be liable for surface water drainage charges. Well I know that my guttering discharges into soakaways so I wrote to Seven Trent and they sent one of their nice inspectors to check and he agreed and then the nice man in the accounts office cancelled all outstanding charges, reduced my monthly direct debit by £19 and has refunded £369 for overpayments for the last six years. The total refund is over 700 quid and I take back all I said last October about Severn Trent I tell the story simply to make other people who may have missed the programme aware of what they may be entitled to.
