Something to bear in mind if you haven't voted yet:David Cameron says that if the Tories get into power and the Lisbon Treaty hasn't been ratified by all EU member states they will hold a referendum.David Cameron refuses to say whether he will hold a retrospective referendum if they get to power after the Lisbon Treaty has been ratified by all member states.David Cameron says that the Tories will keep the UK in the EU even though most people want to leave but that they will reform it and repatriate powers from the EU.A member state cannot repeal all or part of any EU Treaty signed after the European Communities Act without the agreement of all EU member states. Once the Lisbon Treaty has been ratified it can't be repealed, even if a referendum is held because that would be against EU law and EU law has primacy over English law. Not one single ounce of power can be repatriated from the EU without the EU's agreement unless the European Communities Act is repealed which will withdraw us from the EU.So if you were thinking of voting Tory on the basis of David Cameron's "promise" to hold a referendum, you're wasting your vote because you won't get it.
