whats telford really like? : Telford Live

I have been wanting to move to Telford for some time and am now in a position to be able to do so finally, I have family in the area and whenever i visit i love it there. Spent the other night trying to persuade my hubby its the right thing to do and he looked up on the internet and found it said that its the chav centre of England and there are gangs of teenagers roaming the streets at night looking for fights. I have never experienced anything like this when visiting Telford and always thought it a really nice place with friendly people. We also saw on the internet that crime rate is above national average and from seeing a few forums it seems that racism is quite rife in Telford again i was suprised by this as I thought Telford was quite a multi cultural town. i guees visitors dont experience what life is really like though in a town.I just wondered if anyone on here that lives in Telford could let me know what its like to live there and are there any areas in particular that I should advoid as I have 2 teenagers who are very quiet and shy and could not stick up for themselves if they were faced with a gang of teenagers. Also is racism anything to worry about in Telford? thanks for any help
