Born to be Mild

I took 'Born to be Mild' by Dave Armitage on hols with me. Dave is a Daily Star journo, and this is his first novel. If, like me, you enjoyed 'Where Did it all go Right?' by Andrew Collins you will love this book, but its more than a 40-somethings trip back to a time of Chopper bikes and Spacehoppers.

The first part of the book might pay homage to Action Man and Brown wallpaper memories of Hadley in the 1970's, but the subsequent tale of a boy growing up in Hadley is well written and entertaining. I read it in two days, and I was going to give it away but instead, I'll keep it, and encourage you to buy a copy for yourselves and support Daves first book. He claims its not an autobiography, but I bet he wishes it was!

You can buy it from Waterstones, but if you don't want to pay for parking, you can get it in WH Smiths or The Wellington News shop in Wellington. Well worth £7.99.
