Green Party names Candidates

Telford and Wrekin Green Party have selected Luke Shirley and Pat McCarthy to contest the parliamentary constituencies of Telford and The Wrekin on 8th June. Their nomination was made by the local Green Party membership, following a democratic selection process.

Luke Shirley, 27, lives in Telford where he also teaches in a successful secondary school. He has recently become a father for the first time. Luke has a particular interest in education policy and is keen to engage young voters across Telford in the forthcoming General Election. He is looking forward to talking about the Green Party’s promise to students.

Pat McCarthy is an active political campaigner. Pat lives and works in Wellington where he is also an experienced Town Councillor. For some time Pat has been involved in the fight to defend the county’s NHS services from cuts and downgrading, particularly at the Princess Royal Hospital. He is looking forward to challenging the government’s rhetoric on the NHS.

Both candidates are looking forward to debating with the candidates from the established political parties and welcome the opportunity to talk about a different vision for a post-Brexit Telford and Wrekin.
