Leader of Telford Council in Pillow Fight
Cllr Shaun Davies, the leader of Telford & Wrekin Council took to Twitter to claim that nurses at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford told him they were having to buy pillows for beds in the wards out of their own money. A claim that caused senior medic Mark Cheetham to comment ‘I don’t believe this’.
Cllr Davies who has crossed swords with Medics previously over the Future Fit A&E proposals was visiting a family member at the hospital.
The claim by Cllr Davies was also called into question by a number of others on Twitter, so my question is: if you know any nurses who have bought pillows for beds at the PRH, please email me or message me here in confidence and let’s get this story confirmed, or put to bed once and for all. Deirdre Fowler, Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Quality at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, said: “I am not aware that any of our staff have been asked to personally buy pillows and I would not expect any NHS staff to do so.
“Items such as pillows are bought by departments through our procurement processes.
“If anybody has inadvertently been advised otherwise I would encourage them to contact me to allay their concerns.”

People do seem to be substantiating the comment though. Must be some truth in it.
Nobody but Shaun has substantiated the comments. I have had more time at the hospital with hubby in past 5 years than most. You need a pillow you are given a pillow. You are not encouraged to bring your own in even, because of infection control.
