Parking Machines Go Live in Wellington
Parking Machines Go Live in Wellington
Monday 19th June will see the parking ticket machines turned on in Wellington.
The ticket machines will issue FREE tickets and not even accept cash. This is not a system of charging for parking but a means to tell when a car arrives, and when it leaves.
This is to prevent shoppers spaces being taken up all day by commuters driving to Wellington and leaving their car parked all day.
DON’T FORGET TO TAKE A TICKET!
So what are you supposed to do if you work in Wellington…
How long can we park for and as Claire says – what about workers?
I assume these are on the short stay car parks and workers will have to use the long stay?
you probably will have to buy a permit like up the town centre
Waste of paper.
Commuters don’t want to park near the main shops or access to them but the station car park is full by 6:50am every morning bad often before….they are bent badly served by the town
so what happens if you park all day then
No spaces for people who work in Wellington all day and rubbish comments from the council saying there’s nothing they can do about and we just have move our cars every three hours. No permit scheme is being introduced causing a night mare for workers and businesses ☹️
What about the electric vehicle charging points? They’re only “fast” chargers so take about 4 hours to charge a car. If someone is using one of those to get a full charge they will go over the three hours.
The question of people coming from Shrewsbury South Telford and other areas to access free long stay parking while they commute on the train needs to be addressed. Where do shoppers park if they are in Wellington for longer than three hours – there are no spaces available on any long stay car parks after 9am. ?
