Southwa**er: Grafitti in the 21st Century
These totems have been pictured showing the Windows operating system a few weeks back but on Sunday, things took a turn for the worse.
It’s unclear if the operator didn’t realise that their screen was being mirrored to the electronic screen or if the whole thing had been hacked by some joker.
Either way, there were some red faces at Telford & Wrekin Council when this was pointed out to them today. At least with the super new broadband in the town, buffering was kept to a minimum.

If they were showing the Windows operating system a few weeks back, then this was the natural conclusion. They haven’t been hacked at all, they are simply normal computers (like all these things are) and whoever makes the bus software didn’t do a very good job of blocking access to anything other than the bus software. On top of that they don’t filter web requests to bad places. All in all, serious questions for whichever public body paid for this rubbish.
This was a picture of one totem but what nobody has pointed out that this appeared on all the totems in Telford, and they have lots of these scattered around town.
Couldn’t agree more, to leave an unprotected touchscreen computer in a public space with no white/blacklisting in place is just negligent. It shows that zero analysis or due diligence was done on the product, and that it wasn’t actually tested properly.
I can’t believe they are investigating this, last time I walked past the Teamviewer (a application to remotely control computers) ID and Password was on the screen allowing anyone with the program on their computer or even mobile phone could control the computer and put whatever they wished on it.
