Ironbridge road closure for river beam placement
Update from English Heritage & reminder about the temporary road closure along the Wharfage on Monday.
As part of English Heritage’s Conservation Project on the Iron Bridge, a crane will be in place in Ironbridge this coming Monday (2nd October) to lift two scaffolding beams into place over the river.
In order to allow enough space for the crane on Monday, a temporary road closure will be place on the Wharfage in the centre of Ironbridge between 09:30 and 15:30. A traffic diversion will be in place during this time. We are grateful to the local community for accommodating this temporary closure, which is necessary if we are to undertake the vital conservation works.
You may also have noticed that fencing has begun to go up on the deck of the bridge. Whilst this is necessary in order to undertake work on the deck of the bridge, we are keen to do everything possible to minimise disruption to the local area and the scaffolding has been specially designed to continue to prioritise safe pedestrian access across the bridge during the works.
