Police appeal for car theft info
Police pursued a stolen car in Wolverhampton this morning (Thursday 28 Dec), and arrested a man and two teens, after tracking two of them down as they tried to escape through people’s back gardens.
The car, which had been stolen in Telford, had been reported to West Mercia Police after driving away without paying for petrol from a garage in Telford yesterday. It was spotted early this morning at 0.05am, as it was being driven erratically in the Bushbury area of Wolverhampton.
After police had pursued the car for over an hour, it pulled up in Westcroft Avenue, Wolverhampton and three people got out and ran away. A man was detained by a police dog, but two youths made off on foot through back gardens, jumping over high fences. They were chased by officers, who caught one as he tried to get away and then the other who was found trying to hide under a piece of plaster board in a garden.
A man age 34 and two boys age 17 have been arrested on suspicion of theft of a car.
Anyone with information about this car theft is asked to contact 101 giving reference 2421 of 27 December.
