Aviva win boosts Save the Clifton funds

‘The Clifton Project’ has attracted support from all areas of the community. Funds have been raised through our community share offer, grants, donations and live events.

Since the Clifton looks likely to become apartments, focus has turned to the old HSBC bank building near the railway station in Wellington.

They are at a pivotal moment in the acquisition of premises for the project; with volunteer help the refurbishment would mean they could be trading within 6 months.

The aim is to open to the public in spring 2018, where they can provide a hub which can jigsaw together the talents and skills of our community, both locally and embracing the Borough of Telford and Wrekin; offering apprenticeships and training opportunities, a place for entertainment and fun, a place which can build a strong future for our citizens and help shape further regeneration of our town.

The £1000 grant from Aviva will significantly contribute to professional/legal fees in the customisation of the building.

This is probably a better alternative than getting the old Clifton building. Look at the success of ‘Flicks in the sticks’ – small is good.
