Did you see something strange in Broseley on Friday?
An unidentified male tried to coerce a child into his car as the child walked home.
On the afternoon of Friday the 14th of December 2018, at approximately 3:30pm, a child was walking home from John Wilkinson Primary School on Church Street, Broseley. The child had just passed the church walking towards the town centre when a man in a car pulled up alongside him. The man stopped the car, but kept the engine running. The man opened his window and spoke to the child, asking why he was walking home and could he give him a lift? The child sensibly ran off and went straight home, where his mother immediately called the Police. An Officer attended and took details from the child in an effort to identify the person involved in this incident.
Only a limited description of the car is available, it was grey with a silver W in a circle above the number plate, probably a Volkswagen. The car was a four door and had a pair of red dice hanging from the rear view mirror. The man was described as being in his twenties to thirties, with black ordinary length hair. He was wearing a suit waistcoat over a blue fading to white sweatshirt. He was wearing ripped jeans.
The limited details of the incident have been passed to the school by the mother of the child and will be passed to other parents as soon as possible.
The Police are very keen to try and identify the person involved in this incident and if you believe that you witnessed it, or believe you have information that may help the Police in this matter, please call 101 and refer to incident 0472S 141218.
