Are the car park cameras at Morrisons, a done deal?

Are the car park cameras at Morrisons, a done deal?

Following the meeting where the planning application was finally given the go ahead for new parking enforcement ANPR cameras at the car park by Morrisons in Lawley, the planning application for the signs was passed this evening too.

Four Councillors sitting on the planning committee voted in favour despite opposition campaigns from local Councillors and residents.

Telford MP, Lucy Allan has written to Morrisons, explaining ‘The concern is that people will avoid the area once the cameras are installed and parking restricted, leading local businesses to suffer. The local school also use Lawley Square to ease congestion by the school to improve safety of the children.’

While planning has been granted for both the cameras and the signage, it is not known when the system will be switched on, or if Morrisons will reconsider the situation in light of protests.

Please join the protest group above. Yet again the Labour Councillors dont want to represent the will of the people so we will speak for ourselves!

I can just see the next move. Someone in a gullie suit and an air rifle will exercise some vigilante camera justice in a sustained manner.

Morrison’s proved no evidence that the restrictions are needed – WE Their customers, provided evidence that there is plenty of room for both the local centre and the store.

This is ridiculous. I avoid going anywhere, unless i have to for work where you have this in place. Merry hill best place to shop. Plenty of parking and free all day parking…..no issues……Telford the place of parking tickets and round abouts!!! Shame on you Morrison’s

Personally I don’t see a problem. It’s Morrisons car park. They pay rental on the land. Its not a public car park. All supermarkets have a time restriction.I know its a problem as you can’t visit twice in one day. But seriously how many people as a percentage go to the same supermarket multiple times in one day. Its going to happen. So either shop elsewhere or don’t

Can’t blame Morrison’s for this, it’s their site! Maybe if the fantastic developers of the land had actually considered that putting so many businesses, homes, school etc on one site might cause parking issues this wouldn’t have been necessary. But no as usual and as is happening all over telford the attitude is “how many buildings can we ram into a small a space as possible. Lots of the houses either don’t have parking or have 1 tiny are….it’s ridiculous
