Over £1000 raised for good causes in the memory of Mr Taylor

Stuart Angus Hamilton Taylor passed away suddenly on the 30th August 2018 shortly after returning home from a family holiday in the Yorkshire Dales.

Stuart lived in Telford for over 25 years and he was a well-known and much-loved lecturer who had recently retired from Telford College and the Open University. Stuart also lectured part-time at the University of Wolverhampton after retiring.

Prior to his career in teaching, Stuart was a Social Worker in Chester, Nottingham and London.

Stuart Taylor was a good man who changed the lives of many people and his family want to continue to do things in his name. Rather than set up a charity or a foundation, they have instead chosen to raise money for specific local projects each year, with all of the money raised going directly to each project.

Each project will ‘fit in’ with the kind of man that Stuart was and will focus upon education, music, addressing inequality and/or history. Projects can focus upon one or more of these areas at any one time.

‘Gifted on Behalf of Stuart Taylor’ is an opportunity for all of those who knew and loved Stuart to get involved and help to raise money towards our chosen projects. If you would like to support by organising your own fundraising activity – no matter how small – the family would love to hear from you so do please get in touch. This could be a sponsored event, a cream tea, a meal at home for family and friends or it could be including Stuart in a night out at your local pub whereby the cost of a pint of ale is donated to a pot each time that a round of drinks is bought. It could also be a simple donation that you make the online JustGiving link.

‘Stuart really was ‘a man of the people’ who always had the interests of others at heart. He always had the time to listen to others and he genuinely cared. We really hope that ‘Gifted’ will be a way for lots of people to remember Stuart by becoming involved with fundraising and sharing memories. ‘
