30 Firefighters at Telford blaze 

An industrial unit on Halesfield 5 that caught fire at 7pm last night was contained by 30 fire personnel from four stations across Telford and Shrewsbury.

Crews worked in extreme heat conditions to bring the fire under control. At the height of the incident, seven fire appliances were in attendance, including the Aerial Ladder Platform and the Incident Command Unit.

A specialist crew was operating a drone, allowing the team to monitor the fire from above and assess the structural integrity of the roof, which was beginning to fail due to intense heat. Operational and safety officers were also in attendance to coordinate and oversee the incident.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue said “Due to assertive and safe firefighting, crews quickly tackled the blaze preventing any spread to neighbouring buildings.”
