Dawley fire closed street
A fire which started in a tumble dryer closed the High Street in Dawley yesterday afternoon.
An eyewitness told Telford Live that initially, it was thought that the fire was extinguished by staff, but smoke started billowing out of the upstairs windows.
Upon arrival, fire crews saw that smoke was coming from from the premises, and a decision was made by the Telford crew to deploy two firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus (BA) under rapid deployment procedures.
After a thorough search, no fire was found upstairs, and the fire in the dryer was extinguished.
The laundrette remained closed today, with fire damage clearly visible inside.
