Man seriously injured at Telford pub

Two men have been released on police bail following reports of an assault at a Telford pub on 4th May.

The incident happened at The Three Furnaces at Tweedale near Madeley which had recently reopened following a refurbishment.

Eyewitnesses reported “A man got punched at 2:30am last night. He got rushed to hospital as he got knocked out fell down 2 steps and whacked his head. He was bleeding from the ears.”

Another told Telford Live “There was a pool of blood on the floor, the DJ wouldn’t turn down his music at all at first, until emergency services arrived they told him turn it all off get everyone out.”

West Mercia told Telford Live “Officers were called to The Three Furnaces on the Bridgnorth Road in Telford at 2.44am on Sunday following reports of an assault.

“A man, aged in his 40s, had suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for further treatment. Two men, aged 17 and 18, who were arrested in relation to the incident have since been released on police bail as enquiries continue.”

The Three Furnaces cancelled the 80s Night that was due to take place the next evening.

A spokesperson the venue said “We are deeply sorry that someone was injured during an incident at our venue on Saturday night and our thoughts are with them and their family at this time.

“As this is an ongoing matter, we are unable to comment further on the specifics of this incident and respectfully ask for privacy and for the public to avoid speculation while the full facts are being established.

“We would assure the public that our team responded quickly and worked hard to provide assistance before the emergency services and appropriate authorities arrived at the scene.

“As a local business, our aim is to provide a safe and enjoyable space for all of our guests and as such, we are deeply upset by this current situation.

“We will continue to work with the relevant authorities whilst they carry out their inquiries and wish for a quick and full recovery of the injured guest.”

The pub is likely to re-open on Thursday as normal.
