The Apley Piper starts Wellington VE Day Anniversary Celebrations
In a moving start to the VE Day 80th Anniversary in Wellington, The Apley Piper played in the market square at 9am while veterans, shopkeepers, councillors and the public looked on.

A declaration was read out by Damian Breeze, the Town Crier to a hushed, modest crowd before the Piper led the standards out of the square towards the church.
On Saturday there is a full day of events planned for Wellington, including Lindy Hop dancing, bagpipes and Wellington Brass Band.
