Appliance fault caused Wellington house fire

This weeks house fire on High Street, Wellington which saw crews from Wellington’s Amber Watch and Red Watch respond quickly, has now been attributed to an electrical appliance fault by Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service.

The resident affected is staying with family and friends, and her three dogs were rescued unharmed.

Housing Plus Group, the landlord of the newly built property, expressed their sadness over the incident, stating, “We’re grateful that no one was hurt.” While the fire was quickly extinguished, the home sustained significant smoke damage and is currently unsuitable for habitation.

A spokesperson for Housing Plus Group confirmed they have taken “immediate steps to secure the building” and will be “carrying out a full clean and necessary repair as quickly as possible” to restore the property. They are also in close contact with the customer, offering “ongoing support and ensuring she has everything she needs” during this distressing time.

The swift action of the fire crews, coupled with the ongoing support from Housing Plus Group, means the affected resident and her pets are safe, and efforts are underway to get her home back to normal.
