3am Malicious call out for fire service
In the early hours of Friday morning, one fire appliance was dispatched from Telford Central Fire Station to the multi-storey car park at Southwater.
Fire service log reported “This incident was a false alarm with malicious intent due to person deliberately activating multiple call points.”
Police were also in attendance. Malicious and hoax calls are a drain on resources and can divert firefighters from real emergencies.
People can be prosecuted for making hoax calls or setting off alarms maliciously, risking a hefty fine and/or up to six months in prison if convicted.
