A442: Water woes continue but roads are open

Telford residents are facing ongoing disruption today after a major 21-inch water pipe burst on the EP/A442, impacting water supply and traffic across the area. Severn Trent has confirmed crews are on site at Brockton Way, and water is being rerouted through different pipes to restore supply.

Severn Trent is arranging bottled water deliveries for up to 1,600 households, with residents in TF3, TF4, TF7, and TF8 potentially experiencing low pressure or no water. Telford & Wrekin Council is directly contacting care homes, schools, and nurseries.

Over 50 Severn Trent personnel, supported by council teams, are working to fix the complex, deep-underground burst. More than 23 water tankers are injecting additional water into the network to stabilise supply. The burst pipe has caused highway barrier damage and kerbstones may need resetting, with full road repair needs currently being assessed.

Regarding traffic, the Brockton Loop (near Brookside) is now open. The main stretch from Castlefields to Holmer Lake is open now that debris is cleared, but an emergency speed limit will remain.

Severn Trent’s presence in the area is expected to be extensive for the next couple of days due to the complex nature of the repairs. Residents are encouraged to check in on neighbours.
