Emily-Jane’s coastal trek reaches new milestone

Telford’s own Emily-Jane has marked a significant milestone on her epic South West Coast Path challenge, completing three weeks on the trail and reaching her 30th birthday. The endurance walker has now covered an impressive 250 miles, or 295.42 miles according to her Strava tracking, from Minehead to St Just.

During her journey, Emily-Jane has spent 21 days on the trail, with 17 days of actual walking, accumulating an astounding 50,859 feet in elevation gain. Her efforts have also seen her raise a commendable £2,081 for charity so far.

To celebrate her birthday and recharge, Emily-Jane took two well-deserved rest days in Newquay, staying at the SeaSpace Hotel. Her break included a visit to the Rattler Cyder farm and a rejuvenating spa day, generously gifted by Bedruthan Hotel and the South West Coast Path organisation.

The week was made even more special by the arrival of her best friend, who joined her for the birthday celebrations and provided much-needed support, allowing Emily-Jane to walk with a lighter running vest instead of her heavy hiking pack.

After enduring the heat of the initial weeks, the recent rain has been a welcome change, bringing cooler temperatures that have made the challenging miles more manageable.

Further support for Emily-Jane’s fundraiser came from her colleagues, who organised a cake sale last week, raising over £100. Emily-Jane expressed her gratitude for all the ongoing encouragement and donations, which she credits with keeping her motivated.
