Former council offices are being repurposed

Work to transform Addenbrooke House into Telford College’s new sixth form centre is making significant strides.

This flagship facility that formerly housed Telford & Wrekin Council, will be called ‘Telford 6th’, is being delivered by contractor McPhillips and is set to open in September 2026.

How Addenbrooke House used to look when it housed the Council

It will create a new modern home for the College’s A-Level provision and attract students from across the Borough and further-a-field due to its location at Station Quarter in Telford Town Centre.

Major progress has been made inside the building with mechanical and electrical installations being delivered across multiple floors.

Improvements to the building’s exterior are also going well with façade work progressing. Next steps for the project include the installation of mechanical, electrical, and partitioning works across other floors while work on the facade of the building is continuing and new windows are set to be installed shortly.

The multi-million pound sixth form centre will allow Telford College to significantly expand its A-Level offering in a self-contained sixth form setting.

In the building there will be state-of-the-art science labs for physics, biology and chemistry, a drama studio, arts studio, bespoke library for learners and much more.
