Historic tin found at Wellington Orbit
A piece of local history has been found at Wellington Orbit cinema. The discovery was made by workers during the ongoing renovation work.
The Orbit used to be a bank and offices, and is currently having building work to bring the upper part of the building into use.
The item found is a perfectly preserved small blue tin lid for ‘The Salopian Ribbon’ made or supplied by George Jeffs Ltd of Haygate, Wellington.
It is believed to have been a tin for a typewriter ribbon, a product supplied by the local business.
The discovery has prompted a call for information from the community.
