New career a stage for Tom
A former Charlton School pupil is embarking on an exciting career step after being approached by the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). Tom, who studied in Wellington before moving on to college in Birmingham, is starting a residential wardrobe and costume traineeship.
Tom attended Charlton School, where he developed a passion for textiles and costume. He went on to study at BOA Stage and Screen Production in Birmingham at 16, achieving a triple distinction* and a Brilliance Award this summer.
His mum, Adrienne Taylor, said: “I understand every parent is proud of their children and their achievements but for a little lad from Wellington this is quite something special!”

Tom’s previous work has included running the wardrobe for the Midsummer Fayre and working with local amateur dramatic groups. He has also worked at the Old Rep and Alexandra theatres, and was part of the make-up team at Glastonbury Festival.
He will also be on the RSC’s Next Generations programme, which begins in January.
