New look pool opens in Wellington

The swimming pool at Wellington Civic and Leisure Centre is set to officially reopen on Tuesday 26 August after a major investment from Telford & Wrekin Council.

Under 25s can enjoy free swimming and there are free swimming lessons as part of Telford & Wrekin Council’s 10 x 10 programme. Over 50s, can swim for £2.50 with Telford Loyalty Card.

This refurbishment project focused on modernising the building’s infrastructure to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. It supports the council’s aim to become carbon neutral by 2030.

Improvements include an air source heat pump, a new roof, and wall installation in the pool hall.

A new energy-efficient hot water system and improved ventilation have also been added.

Visitors will find refurbished changing areas, new lockers, extra cubicles, and a refurbished pool area.
