Telford independent cinema enters national awards
Wellington Orbit has entered the British Independent Film Awards’ (BIFA) inaugural Cinema of the Year award. It is calling on locals to vote to help secure a nomination.
The award is supported by Kia and voted for by cinemagoers. Cinemas across the country were invited to enter in July and explain why they are so special.
Voting opened today and will close on 22 September. A jury will then select the nominees, taking into account the public’s votes and the cinemas’ submissions. Five nominees will be announced on 3 November.
Liam McClelland, director at Wellington Orbit, said: “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase the impact we’re making in our community on a national stage, highlighting the vital role independent cinemas and community venues play in keeping our high streets vibrant.
“At Wellington Orbit, every screening is more than just watching a film, it’s an experience. We invite everyone to show their support by casting their vote today.”
