Telford pub closes it’s doors mysteriously

The Swan Hotel and Restaurant in Wellington remains closed, despite a Facebook post on 4th August citing temporary closure due to ‘electrical problems’.

The popular pub has not reopened and there is no indication of when, or if, it will.

According to a review on a popular booking website, a customer who stayed at the hotel in early August was “asked to leave after 3rd, as the hotel was being closed down. All electricity turned off.”. The Swan has a 5.4 ‘Passable’ rating, although the staff and the carvery were rated more highly.

The pub has a history of facing challenges, with a 2017 planning application for its demolition and a 2022 listing for sale as the long-serving owners retired. The pub was under new management in 2023.

Telford Live has tried to contact the pub for a comment but been unable to do so.
