Father Christmas returns to Sunnycroft

Tickets are now on sale for Christmas at Sunnycroft, as the National Trust’s Victorian villa in Wellington prepares to host two festive events this December. Families can once again meet Father Christmas in a spellbinding pantomime adventure through the house, while a new behind-the-scenes tour will let visitors explore the magic in more detail.

From Friday 5 to Tuesday 23 December, families can step inside Sunnycroft for a 25-minute adventure where pantos collide. With Jack’s magic beans in hand, you’ll journey through the house in search of “Jack and the Beanstalk”, but in true panto style, a few wrong turns could land you in another story altogether. Keep watch for a glass slipper, a mischievous genie, or even a giant stomping through the hall. The adventure ends with a meeting with Father Christmas in his festive parlour.

For those who prefer to take their time, Sunnycroft is also offering behind-the-scenes openings during selected dates from Wednesday 10 to Friday 19 December. Visitors can enjoy mulled wine and a mince pie while discovering how Sunnycroft has been transformed into a world where pantos collide. The visit offers a chance to see the detail of the sets, step into hidden corners, and hear directly from the team about how the stories have been woven together. Without the rush to meet Father Christmas, you can savour the magic and spot touches that are easy to miss during the family adventure.

Lou Hall, Site Manager at Sunnycroft, said: “Christmas at Sunnycroft is about stepping into a story. The house is the stage, the visitors are part of the play, and Father Christmas is waiting at the end. It’s playful and surprising, and it makes the most of Sunnycroft’s character as a home that has seen generations of celebrations. For those who prefer a quieter experience, the behind-the-scenes visits give a completely different perspective. They show the thought and creativity that goes into making Christmas here feel special.”

All tickets must be pre-booked online. Group sizes are limited to protect the house and to keep each visit personal. The behind-the-scenes experience is recommended for ages 14+.

Sunnycroft is cared for by the National Trust, which looks after places like this so that everyone can enjoy them. This Christmas offers a chance to celebrate tradition, create new memories, and see the house in a completely new way.
