Ketley family starts charity night run

A family from Ketley is set to begin this year’s Hope House Dark Run in Telford to support a cause close to their hearts. The annual fundraising event returns to Telford Town Park on Saturday, October 25th, when runners will light up the night for Hope House Children’s Hospices.1

The Amah family, including three-year-old Jovelyn, will get the event underway. Jovelyn has a rare chromosome condition and has been supported by Hope House since she was a baby. Her parents, Seth and Gifty, were initially told she might never be able to eat, walk, or even open her eyes.

“We needed support and help,” Gifty said. “Hope House was here and the light for us just at the right time. When Jovelyn comes to stay at Hope House she gets to be her own little girl in her own little world.”

She added that the family “loves Hope House” and that Jovelyn’s favourite thing is using the specialist sensory room.

Last year, the four Hope House Dark Runs raised more than £40,000. Hope House fundraiser Dawn Ball said she is excited to see the Amah family start the race.

“The Dark Runs are always a special event full of energy and fun, and we’re expecting even more magic this year,” she said. “The family-friendly 5K event is through the town park—all after dark! So join us and dress up in your brightest, most glowing outfits.”

She also thanked the event’s sponsors, which include Jules Convenience Store, Epson, QTM, Martin Kaye Solicitors, Ironbridge Interiors, Enflame Heating, and Cartwright Waste Disposal.

Every participant will receive a medal and a goody bag. Tickets are £15 for adults and £5 for children under 16, and can be purchased on the Hope House website: http://hopehouse.org.uk/dark-runs
