Barratt Homes kits out Telford Town side

Telford Town FC has deep local roots – originally formed as Wellington Amateurs in 1950, the club was taken over in 2024, leading to a full rebrand as Telford Town FC and a renewed vision to create a truly community-focused football club.

The club has launched a major drive to expand youth, women’s, and disability football, develop local talent, and build pathways from grassroots right through to senior and semi-professional levels, all centred around providing opportunities for players across Telford and Shropshire.

Barratt Homes has supported this expansion into youth football by sponsoring the kits of the Under-14s team for the current season and, with the developer building new homes locally at in Scarlet View in Lawley and Silkin Meadows in Apley, there may be a few new residents looking for a club to play football.

Hayden Dando, Chairman at Telford Town FC, said: “We currently support over 380 players, from Under-7s through to adult football, across a wide range of teams including men’s and women’s sides, two disability teams, a full-time education and football academy, and a veteran’s side.

“Support from organisations like Barratt Homes makes a huge difference. It helps us provide better facilities, equipment, and opportunities for local young people, while also strengthening the connection between businesses and the community they serve. For many of our players, football is more than just a sport; it’s a positive outlet, a place to belong, and a foundation for personal growth. Partnerships like this genuinely help make that possible.

“We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to Barratt Homes for investing in grassroots football and supporting the next generation of players at Telford Town FC.”

The senior sides and education and football academy are based at the DRM Aggregates Arena in School Grove, with men’s games on Saturday afternoons for men and Sunday afternoons for ladies. The juniors are based at either Lilleshall National Sports Centre or Hollinswood 4G pitch for training, with games on Saturday and Sunday mornings at locations around the area. The Under-14s play at OD Murphy Field in Wellington.

Adrian Evans, Managing Director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said: “We are delighted to support the Under-14s at Telford Town FC. Grassroots football clubs play such an important role in bringing people together, developing skills and inspiring confidence in young players.

“We’re proud to contribute to the team’s journey and help Telford Town FC continue its fantastic work within the community. We look forward to seeing how the Under-14s get on during the season.”

Telford Town FC is always looking for new players to join its teams, including the Under-14s squad. For more details, visit the club’s website at Telford Town FC.
