Be a Telford ‘VIP’ for the day
This year marks 90 years of MONOPOLY in the market – and Hasbro is celebrating its iconic legacy all year long. As the world’s favourite family game brand, with over one billion players in 114 countries, MONOPOLY is more than just a game – it’s a global phenomenon.
And now, to celebrate, Telford residents are being given the opportunity from today to become a ‘VIP’* at the official launch of the brand new MONOPOLY: Telford & Wrekin Edition game.
*That’s Very Important Player: MONOPOLY player.
The ‘VIP for a Day’ winner will receive the very first game to roll off the presses, which will be specially signed by Mr. Monopoly.
Mr. Monopoly – another VIP! – is coming up specially from London for the game’s big launch and Big Reveal, which will take place next month in Telford.
Earlier this year, it was announced that the region is to ‘Pass GO’ this year as part of MONOPOLY’s 90th anniversary celebrations. The game will see more than 30 leading local landmarks showcased on the board, replacing the likes of Mayfair and Park Lane from the classic MONOPOLY original.
The public can enter the VIP competition by writing an entry responding to ‘Why I Love Telford and Wrekin’ in up to 25 words. Entries can also be submitted via visual formats. Poems, ditties, and even one-liners will all be judged equally.

Winning Moves UK are the makers of this unique new version under license from Hasbro, a leading games, IP and toy company.
Over the last 25 years, Winning Moves UK has produced select official versions of MONOPOLY based on locations across the world, from Palm Springs to Phuket and Dubai to Dublin. Now the dice are rolling – very soon – in Shropshire!
