Crews save dog trapped in culvert

Firefighters successfully rescued an 11-year-old dog that had become stuck in a culvert near the Youth Hostel on High Street, Coalport.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service received the animal rescue call at 7.48pm on Friday evening.

Crews from Telford Central and Wellington, including a Rescue Tender, were quickly sent to the scene, along with an Operations Officer. The Land Ambulance Service also attended.

Fire crews used chimney rods to retrieve the dog. The owner’s encouragement played a key role in the safe rescue.

The dog was left in the care of its owner following the incident, which concluded just before 9.30pm.
