Firefighters attend electric van battery fault
Fire crews made an electric delivery van safe after an incident that was initially reported as a fire on Hortonwood in Telford on Monday night.
Two fire appliances from Telford Central station rushed to the scene at 7:29 pm after a call reporting a car fire. Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used a hosereel jet, thermal imaging camera, and gas monitor while attending the incident.
A spokesperson for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that while the incident was reported as a fire, it was in fact a battery fault. They classified the call-out as a false alarm.
Crews worked to make the electric vehicle’s battery safe before leaving the scene. The stop message was received at 8:29 pm, exactly one hour after the initial call.
Advice was given to the owner of the van following the investigation.
