Five Telford College apprentices win awards
Five Telford College apprentices picked up prizes at the 2025 Shropshire Telford & Wrekin Apprenticeship Awards.
They included Agata Serafin, from Elite Precast Concrete, who was named the overall Telford & Wrekin apprentice of the year after also winning the Manufacturing & Engineering title.

A sell-out audience at the Mercure Telford Centre Hotel in Telford heard how she had always wanted to work within engineering and design, with colleagues praising her ‘enthusiasm to learn and progress’.
Agata, who has recently been helping with the design and development of a new electric vehicle charging block, said the awards victory helped to raise the profile and champion the roles that women can play in engineering.
Telford College also saw its apprentices win in four other categories – IT & Digital, Business Legal & Finance, Creative & Media, and Early Years & Education.

The IT & Digital award went to Josh Howse from the Learning Community Trust who joined the central IT services team as an apprentice after a career change from working in recruitment. Colleagues say his dedication is ‘second to none’.

Summer Craven from Dodd Group won the Business Legal & Finance award. She is working her way up through the HR department, and one colleague said: “Summer is a ray of sunshine and brightens up every room she enters – I don’t know how we would cope without her now.”

Charlie-Mae Grimston, from Purple Frog Systems in Telford, was named Creative and Media Apprentice of the Year. Colleagues described her as an exceptional multi-media marketing apprentice who has demonstrated outstanding dedication, creativity and impact.

And it was a case of second time lucky for Early Years and Education winner Tom Miles, from Castle House School in Newport, after he was a finalist in 2024. He has now achieved a distinction in his end point assessment
The competition celebrates the brightest apprentices in the area, as well as recognising employers for their support of apprenticeship programmes.
Lawrence Wood, principal and chief executive of headline sponsor Telford College, said he had been incredibly impressed by the commitment among employers to supporting apprenticeships since taking up his role just over a year ago. “Long may it continue,” he said.
“Having people like Agata winning this year proves what it takes to be an outstanding apprentice. These are people who work hard, are incredibly dedicated, and give it their all.”
