It starts today – Donny Bonny build-up

If you are driving past the playing fields near Aldi in Donnington over the next two weeks, you’ll see a wooden stack of pallets emerging from the turf.

The build-up to one of the landmark events in Telford starts today.

Forty years ago, Mr Mitchell started what has become an institution in the town. The mammoth bonfire, fireworks display and funfair began in 1985 and while Mr Mitchell has handed the reins over to son Mark, even at 87 years old he still looks forward to the event.

If you have any pallets, you can take them down but nothing with paint, and only pallets please.

This year, the event takes place on Saturday 8th November from 4pm. It’s £3 cash to get in on the gate.

The fireworks start at 7pm, the bonfire is lit at 8pm and the grand finale with music and laser show is on at 8:45pm.

Parking for the event is in the field next to bonfire and also at Dobbies/Greenfields. Please don’t park on paths in Muxton as it is enforcing children to walk on the roads. Double yellows now outside Muxton shops and no parking at anytime. Thank you
