New community hub opens to help residents
A new Live Well Community Hub has opened in Wellington, providing a welcoming space for local people to access vital support and advice. The hub, located at the Wellington Community Library and Residents Hub, follows the successful model first established in Madeley.
The initiative sees Telford & Wrekin Council work with local partners to bring a range of services directly to residents. The Madeley hub proved hugely popular, prompting the rollout of the second location.
Funding for the new Wellington hub was secured through a grant from the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care Board.
It offers a regular chance for residents to talk to various organisations and get matched with the specific support they need.
The Wellington Live Well Community Hub is open on the second and fourth Thursday of each month, between 10 am and 12 noon. Everyone is welcome to attend these regular sessions.
The hub is made possible through collaboration with several partners, including Citizen’s Advice, Healthy Telford, and Wellington Town Council.
Councillor Lee Carter, Leader of Telford & Wrekin Council, welcomed the opening. He said: “I’m pleased to see a second Live Well Community Hub opening in Wellington brought about by the strength of collaboration with partners and services.”
He added that more hubs are planned across the borough, with the next one due to open in Donnington on Friday, 7 November.
Councillor Kelly Middleton, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Healthier Communities, highlighted the purpose of the hubs.
She explained: “The Live Well Hubs are all about making it easier for our residents to access the right information, advice, and guidance—early—when it comes to their health, wellbeing, and care needs.”
“These hubs are welcoming, familiar spaces where anyone can drop in without an appointment and get the support they need, when they need it,” she added.
