Shropshire charity recruiting for new leadership role
A long-standing local charity serving residents across Shropshire, Citizens Advice Shropshire, has begun the recruitment process for a new Chair to lead its Trustee Board.
The search comes as current Chair, Chris Boote, prepares to step down from the role in 2026 after six years leading the board. The new Chair will be joining an organisation that has served the community for more than 80 years.
The Board is made up of volunteers who are responsible for making key decisions, setting the charity’s strategic direction, and monitoring performance and finances.
The charity is encouraging all applications, with a particular welcome for younger people and those from underrepresented groups.
They are keen to attract someone with strong leadership skills and experience of charity governance. The new Chair will have the opportunity to shadow Mr Boote before formally taking over.
Mr Boote said: “It’s been a great privilege to lead the Trustee Board. I’m immensely proud of what Citizens Advice does for the people of Shropshire and all we achieve.”
He added: “All good things come to an end and it’s time to ‘hand on the baton’. Anyone joining our Board will experience a supportive and friendly environment.”
Anyone interested in finding out more about the Chair role should visit the Shropshire Citizens Advice website. Details on how to apply and contact information to arrange an informal chat are available here.
