Students team up with award-winning stuntman for podcast filming
Media students from Telford College have joined forces with an award-winning Shropshire stuntman to film the third episode of his action-packed video podcast series.
Justin Pearson, whose impressive film credits include Star Wars, James Bond, Fast & Furious and Harry Potter, has launched a new brand called ‘UnStunted’.
The video podcast explores the world of stunts and action in film and television. It is a precursor to a planned factual TV series that will see Justin and his team recreate famous movie stunts using modern techniques and technology.
The latest episode, filmed in Telford College’s creative media studios at its Wellington campus, focuses on the use of fire in stunt work and is set for release at the end of October.

Shropshire-born Justin, a three-time Screen Actors’ Guild award winner, said:
“UnStunted the TV series will be a factual entertainment documentary show where we remake and shoot classic iconic movie stunts from cinema history.
“The podcast is designed to be slightly broader, so we can discuss some of the classic stunts over the years, as well as sharing our views on the new action movies hitting our screens – good, bad and ugly!
“We’re also aiming to feature a special guest who has with links to cinema or TV on each episode. This time we had stunt legend Stewart ‘Tidd’ James, who was one of the performers in the opening scenes of Saving Private Ryan.”
The podcast is co-hosted by Justin and BBC radio film critic and writer Carl Jones. In the upcoming episode, they discuss some of cinema’s most iconic fire sequences and review the new Matthew McConaughey drama The Lost Bus.
Three Telford College creative media students – Josh Leith, Mikel Boadu and Jack Shingler – helped film and edit the episode under the guidance of media facilitator Andy Galloway-Rose.
Johnathan Abbott, learner manager for creative and music at the college, said:
“We are delighted to be able to help with this series.
The students involved in each of these episodes have found both the practical experience and opportunity to listen to Justin talk very valuable.
“We are always so delighted when students in creative can work directly with professionals – there is no substitute to real-world projects when it comes to building experience.”
