Telford is getting it’s own flag – you decide which one

After more than 1,000 schoolchildren took part in a competition back in June to design a flag for the Borough, judges have now whittled down the entries to the final four flags.

An online poll has launched today, and people have until Sunday 2 November to vote for their favourite design to represent Telford and Wrekin.

Design inspired by Mhairi when at Lawley Primary School
inspiration taken from Telford’s most famous landmarks, including the Wrekin, Ironbridge, and River Severn.
Design inspired by Amelia when at Randlay Primary School – with the Ironbridge, a sunshine/cog of industry to represent the Borough’s proud heritage, and lots of greenery being the inspiration for the design.
Design inspired by Dexie when at Holmer Lake Primary School – inspiration taken from the Ironbridge, as one of the most well-known landmarks in the Borough.
Design inspired by Valarie from Ercall Wood Academy – showcasing well-known landmarks, including the Ironbridge, River Severn and roundabouts.

The four young finalists were invited to meet with a professional designer to look at how their drawings could be the interpreted into a flag design to meet the Flag Institute guidelines, which include keeping it simple, using meaningful symbolism and using two or three basic colours.
