Appeal launches for charity Tree of Light
The annual Rotary Telford Tree of Light appeal was launched on Monday inside the Telford Centre. Money raised will support seven local causes, including Severn Hospice, Hope House Children’s Hospice, The Telford MNDA, Telford Prostate Cancer Support Group, Telford MIND Support Group, Shropshire Search and Rescue, and the Veteran’s Cafe in Madeley.
Organisers are aiming to raise £50,000 this year, following the success of the 2024 campaign which generated £40,000 thanks to the community’s generosity.

For a £5 donation, you can remember a loved one with their name and a short message displayed on boards around the Tree. There is also a dedicated Pet’s page.
Donating has been made easier with the launch of a new website: telfordtreeoflight.org.uk. Donations are already being received online, which is the easiest way to contribute.
Alternatively, application forms are available at Customer Services in the Telford Centre. These can be completed and dropped off at the desk or posted back using the envelope provided.
The Tree of Light will be installed and officially switched on in the Telford Centre, near Frasers, on Thursday 13th November at 4pm.
The event will be led by panto dame Brad Fitt and Shropshire Live. The public is encouraged to attend and show their support. The names of those remembered will be displayed throughout the Christmas period, with updates happening every week as donations come in.
