Food trucks plan for Wellington

Mubasher Mehmood has applied for permission to site three catering vans at the rear of a restaurant in Wellington.

The car park behind The Carpathian Bear in Tan Bank, Wellington is the location of the site, and this application is part-retrospective, meaning that at least one van Chaii Kin, is already operational having been moved from the Swan Hotel car park.

According to the plans, the vans will be open between 11am and 10pm seven days a week and while it is within the conservation area, the says that the “temporary, small-scale nature ensures no harm to heritage significance.”  

They add “The development is fully reversible, ensuring no long-term alteration to the fabric, layout, or character of the conservation area. 

“The proposal supports three independent small businesses and contributes to the vitality of Wellington’s hospitality sector.
