Former Telford MP Lucy Allan rules out political return
Former Telford MP Lucy Allan has denied recent speculation that she has joined the Reform UK party, confirming to Telford Live that she is currently enjoying a break from the political sphere.
Rumours had circulated regarding a formal affiliation with Reform, particularly following her very public endorsement of the Reform UK candidate in the constituency during the General Election campaign in 2024 where she backed the Reform UK candidate.
Quashing the speculation, Ms Allan told Telford Live, ” I am enjoying life out of politics atm – I didn’t join Reform – no plans to get back into it.”
The former MP’s political career in Telford was marked by fiercely contested battles and dramatic shifts in support. Ms Allan first won the traditionally Labour seat in 2015, capturing the constituency with a tight majority of just 730 votes.
She repeated this wafer-thin victory in 2017 with an even tighter majority of 720.
However, the 2019 election saw her secure a significant personal mandate, boosting her majority to 10,941—a commanding result for the area.
Ms Allan stood down from Parliament in May 2024. This coincided with her suspension from the Conservative Party after she publicly supported the Reform UK candidate for Telford, Alan Adams, rather than the nominated Tory candidate.
Despite that high-profile departure from the Conservative benches, Ms Allan is now enjoying life away from Westminster and appears set on maintaining her distance from frontline politics.
